(ever)
I hope you’ll accept this rather weak, shallow and opportunistic explanation for this week’s blog. You see my wife Mac and I have been moving into our new townhouse. Is there a more loathsome task? That is a rhetorical question and in case you’re not good with rhetoric, the answer is NO! I should acknowledge lest you think I am just a miserable old man which would be nothing but a lucky guess where you to think that, we do owe an immense ‘thank you’ to many family and friends who pitched in. But that herein is little to do with my explanation. Just a few moments ago at the end of The Worst Week Ever, I was sitting in my comfy chair, glass of wine in hand thinking with some satisfaction “Well, we did it.” when like a thunderbolt I remembered my blog was due. I always have several on the go but none are ready to be published.
So ever resourceful I sprung to in search of a solution. I spelunked my way through the archive and set upon this story which if I was asked to choose would be my ‘My Most Favourite Blog Ever‘. I wrote it a couple of years ago. I often think that stories are more entertaining and memorable with the spoken word. The great Canadian humourist Stuart McLean understood that. The American humourist David Sedaris is one of the best of his generation. They both understand the power of the spoken word, that the human voice can make a story so much better. This is my audio version of one of my favourite stories. I hope you enjoy it.
