I have been writing a lot recently and I have a piece ready to go but I’ve decided that I won’t publish it just now. My thinking is simple enough. Over time I have gathered followers from over sixty countries. I suspect for most of us global news is distressing at the best of times and this past week it was awful by any measure. The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas launched a cross border attack on Israel, killing hundreds and wounding thousands, indiscriminately slaughtering by all accounts scores of innocent children and adults. The Israeli’s are exacting their own terrible price in human suffering. Israel has declared war and at this moment is on the precipice of a full out invasion of Gaza and the Gaza Strip. Thousands more will die. Peace in the Middle East always hanging by a gossamer thread, is in the balance and the world is less safe. It is tough news and adds to my growing sense that we are embarking on one of the darkest periods in our history since WW2. I hope to God that I am wrong.
So now that is off my chest why burden you with it. Well it’s the reason I have changed my mind about this week’s post. I often reread or listen again to my posts, they can be a great escape for me. And sometimes, like this one, they can offer a reprieve, a sweet oasis from it all. I laughed out loud remembering this story as I told it, I hope it does the same for you.
